The Finishing School is always on the cutting edge of the ever-changing decorative finishing industry.  The enormous success of The Finishing School over the past three decades is due completely to our students. The biggest reward for me as a teacher is seeing students leave class exhilarated by the creative possibilities, branching out with confidence in their abilities and moving forward with great success.

 The Finishing School is a haven for the experienced professional seeking more knowledge, an easier way, and the finest decorative painting techniques to enhance their portfolio and give them a competitive edge.

 The school also welcomes beginners from every background who's interest brings them looking for a solid foundation in decorative painting, an inspiration to begin a new career, or a chance to work on their own environment.

The atmosphere at the school is as warm and welcoming as it is exciting and professional. When a student enters our school for the first time, we begin a relationship that supports each artisan in every aspect of their business.

His knowledge of traditional painting methods combined with his quest for state-of-the-art materials and techniques has taken the school into the medium of Faux Effects™.

The Finishing School strives to provide the perfect learning experience. Classes are hands-on with the objective of each to give the student the knowledge and confidence to produce the most sophisticated finishes and complete the most beautiful decorative artwork in a successful, professional manner in the working environment.

Our many years of teaching experience afford us the flexibility and willingness to accommodate each student's individual needs.
  • Each student leaves class with portfolio ready sample boards that demonstrate careful consideration of color, value and technique.
  • Students are given the knowledge to transform a studio sample to a successful job site finish.
  • A detailed notebook with copious amounts of technical, procedural, and creative information is a standard item for every class.
  • Class size is limited to allow the individual student the attention they need.
  • Each member of the faculty is a decorative painter currently maintaining their own contracting business.

Our classes are continually critiqued for content and quality. Student evaluations regularly reflect an overwhelming appreciation of the intense amount of information and the comprehensive coverage of subject matter with precise attention to every detail.
